Helping authors with Microsoft Word and OpenOffice integration using WebDAV
Wednesday, November 8th, 16.00
Category: Beginner
Track: Technology
This talk looks at how you can use open standards and open source tools to implement and handle an integrated document and content management environment. It describes how to provide an infrastructure for online information sharing without the need for users to learn new graphical interfaces.
This goal can be reached by means of the technology standards OASIS Open Document and WebDAV. Practical examples demonstrate to the audience the user experience of seamless document management.
The open source tools used in the demo are the eZ publish CMS with integrated WebDAV support using Microsoft Word alongside the OpenOffice suite. The demo will show how content can be created in Word or OpenOffice and then published on the Web, without the need to log into a CMS editorial environment.
Joint session with case presented by Christian Daems from CMS-Channel.
