Learn how to design and implement a successful enterprise system in this tutorial by JoAnn Hackos.

Successfully developing and implementing an enterprise content management system in a global organisation is no simple matter. It requires that you establish a community of potential users and administrators who work together to establish common goals and develop requirements for the behaviour and the functionality of the proposed system.

Working with user teams to establish requirements means helping them envision what an enterprise system might be capable of and then helping them define the desired capabilities in ways that will communicate effectively to proposed suppliers.

Once system users have helped to select the best system for their needs, they should be closely involved in establishing the architecture of the new system and defining the new processes they will need to work effectively in the new content management environment.

Establishing information architecture and process engineering teams, however, is not enough. The addition of a leadership team with well-defined responsibilities for guiding acceptance of the new system is essential to the success of your implementation.
